Voice Actress Akiko Sekine Dies
The agency did not give a date or age of death, but noted her wake and funeral will be held in Tokyo on August 9 and 10.Sekine's husband is voice actor Hidekatsu Shibata. Shibata noted in the announcement he and Sekine had been close companions for more than 30 years.Some of Sekine's anime roles include: Shizuko in the Aoki Densetsu Shoot, the Spring Goddess in Mahōtsukai Sally, Queen of Filosena in Eien no Filena, and Mio Kisaragi in Tokimeki Memorial.In video games she also played Mio Kisaragi in Tokimeki Memorial, Serena Kanzaki in Meguri Aishite, Wise in Blue Breaker Burst, and Alma in Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim.Sekine also did narration work for television works, commercials, and company instruction videos.Sources: RME's X/Twitter account, Oricon News
