Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Manga Tops 200 Million Copies in Circulation

The official X/Twitter account for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise announced on Thursday that Koyoharu Gotouge's manga has exceeded 200 million copies in circulation worldwide (including digital copies). The manga has topped 164 million copies in Japan and 56 million outside of Japan, which puts the total number at around 220 million copies worldwide.The manga topped 150 million copies in circulation in February 2021. At that time, its circulation had increased about 43 times since its anime adaptation's April 2019 premiereGotouge launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in February 2016. The manga ended in May 2020. Shueisha published the manga's 23rd and final compiled book volume in December 2020. Viz Media published the manga in English.Crunchyroll, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Aniplex will screen the first film in theaters, including IMAX and other premium large screen formats, in the United States and Canada on September 12. The film will screen in Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub.The first television anime of Gotouge's manga premiered in April 2019. Aniplex of America licensed the series and streamed the show on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation. Adult Swim's Toonami programming block premiered the television anime in October 2019.Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc, a seven-episode arc that adapts the Mugen Train film, premiered in October 2021. The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc anime premiered with a one-hour special in May 2024, and ended with a 60-minute-long eighth episode in June 2024.
