DESCRIPTION
In a post-apocalyptic future that has been torn apart by shadowy creatures known as the Earless, humanity's heroes are the Players, who pilot mecha known as Equipment to battle their inhuman enemies while earning fame and fortune to boot. Echo is a young tech-head who dreams of working amongst the Players and their Equipment, going so far as to build a makeshift mecha of his own, but he has long since resigned himself to life in the destitute scrap-heaps that cover so much of the world, now. That is, until he discovers an amnesiac named μ (or “Mu”) who has a mechanical port in her back that is the telltale sign of a Player. The pair become fast friends, and they vow to use their skills to fight for the world and defeat The Earless.

30/100I wish this were a better anime. Unfortunately for all involved, it's not.Continue on AniListI wish I could tell you this is an amazing anime.
It's obvious this is a passion project, that this was an idea that was held dearly by those who worked on it, unfortunately passion and good ideas are not enough. Execution is the lion's share of why anything is good, and the execution of this anime is... honestly laughably bad.
Because it is an anime let's start by talking about the animation. I'm of the (perhaps controversial) belief that good animation can save an otherwise mediocre story. The reason's why are for another time, but suffice it to say that when I saw a preview for this anime I had high hopes because I already saw really interesting character designs and a unique art esthetic that pleased me. The character designs are still unique, I'll give this anime that, but the art is washed over by a haze that makes everything ten times less brilliant and takes the art from unique to drab in an instant. Don't believe me? Compare the art in the episodes to the outro visuals that are pulled from the episode itself (this started in later episodes) and you'll wish you had seen the anime that's been shown in the outro.
Ok, let's talk story. I needed to brace myself because this is just a mess. And it saddens me because I always try to root for anime originals. I wanted this to be indie, and grungy and tell a interesting story. I do feel it was trying to do all those things. It didn't succeed. The storytelling is so garbled that the viewer is left honestly confused for most of the runtime and this confusion is not the good "oooh I wonder if I'm going to get my questions answered" type of confusion, it's the "I honestly have no questions because I don't know what the f**k is going on!" type of confusion. One of many problems with this type of confusion (and the most prevalent in this anime) is that if the viewer is not really understanding what is happening and what is the stakes... then climaxes fail to impact, emotional moments have no payoff, and the story as a whole suffers.
The last episode is especially egregious. Without spoiling for anyone that still wants to see this dumpster fire, it manages to simultaneously have too little time and too much time! Yes that's right, the conflict gets resolved so fast and so easily you might blink and miss it, but you get like three different ending none of which feel like you needed or wanted. Also, anything that might have had a lasting impact gets rolled back so nothing mattered in the first place.
Maybe this can be a so-bad-it's-good type of watch, but I seriously doubt it. It's a so bad, I feel sad type of watch for me. Knowing that this is an anime original almost guarantees that there won't be a sequel but the way they left it off seemed like they might want one, and to that I beg the anime gods to please intervene and stop that from happening. No one should be put through more of this.

60/100WOW, this is the trashiest trash of trash anime, do yourself a favor and read this review instead of watching this showContinue on AniList-
(Here are my final thoughts/RANT on this series, TL;DR - It is trash)Wow, so, have you guys ever had that experience where you go look at an anime’s page and think ”wow that’s a really low score, but the show couldn’t actually be that bad, right?” so you give it a shot, and after the first 2 or 3 episodes, you think “ok, this is pretty bad, but it’s not as bad as the rating implied” but then you get to a point in the series and you realize “HOLY FUCKING SHIT, no, this really is as bad as the rating implied, I didn’t think it could get worse, but somehow it has” that summarizes my experience with this show in a nutshell. This is one of the first times in a long time where I actually regret watching an anime, because I wasted literally hours of my life consuming this GARBAGE.

Like I GENUINELY do not understand HOW can an anime be this bad, this is made by the same studio that has brought us so many amazing anime, and the main scriptwriter for this series is the exact same guy who has written more than a dozen episodes of Eureka Seven, so how, HOW can this anime be so bad with the talent that is behind it, I genuinely do not know. I stepped into this expecting it to be at least better than Gleipnir, but I somehow walked away with this now being the worst anime I have completed this year.-
On the bright side the music, the animation, and the art style for the series are all top-notch and if they ever release creditless versions of all of the EDs they will probably make for great material to make amazing AMVs out of. So while in concept the theory for this show sounds interesting, the execution is so terrible that you are honestly amazed that it could be this bad. At first, you get at least some enjoyment out of watching a trainwreck happen, but at a point in this series it just doesn’t matter anymore, and you just want to jump ship just like the show already done since episode one, but you’re already 3/4 of the way through, so you can’t leave it unfinished, so now you just have to buckle down and watch this garbage.-
Anyways my rate/review it’s over, I’ve said all I want to say, if you want to talk about it go for it. So if I had to rate this series I guess I would give it a rating I have not given in more then 2 years, a 60/100, because the plot is so incoherent and honestly rushed that I would need to look at the reactions for every episode to even get a semblance of what the fuck is going on. So yeah, do yourself a favor and don’t watch this anime🙏🙏-
P.S. in case you are wondering, the only “good” episode in this series is episode 7, and that is because it is almost completely separate from the main plot, which is why it actually works.
