428: Shibuya Scramble Developer Jirō Ishii Unveils Shibuya Scramble Stories Game's 2028 Target Date, More Cast

428: Shibuya Scramble game developer Jirō Ishii announced during a livestream on Sunday that he is targeting a 2028 launch date for his new live-action adventure game Shibuya Scramble Stories with screenwriter Yukinori Kitajima. The developer also announced three more cast members and the addition of Tokyu Land Corporation and Skeleton Crew Studio as support partners to the production. The staff will bypass the creation of just a prototype video, and go into full-fledged development with a playable PC demo (of the eventual game's beginning) in late 2027 or later.428: Shibuya Scramble cast members Manami Ute and Shunsaku Kudō join the new title, along with Machi: Unmei no Kousaten cast member Masaru Matsuda. The cast for the game features returning members from previous Ishii games including Masakazu Arai, Fumio Kitagami, Kōsei Amano, and Yūto Nakamura. Another veteran of Ishii's works, Aya Kamiki, is contributing the theme song.The crowdfunding page for the game describes the game as an ensemble drama with multiple protagonists and an "altruistic" game design where the characters impact the other storylines in a meaningful way.The campaign officially begann on May 28 and will end on July 25.The 428: Shibuya Scramble game shipped on the Nintendo Wii in 2008, on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable in 2009, on the iOS in 2011, and on Android in 2013. Japanese game magazine Famitsu awarded the game a perfect score, the ninth game in the magazine's history to achieve the feat. Spike Chunsoft published the game for the PlayStation 4 and for PC via Steam in English. Kōichi Nakamura and Ishii (Under the Dog creator, BBK/BRNK series composition) created and wrote 428: Shibuya Scramble's story. Kinoko Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi of Type-Moon (Fate/stay Night, The Garden of Sinners, Tsukihime) wrote and contributed character designs respectively to a bonus scenario in the game. P.A. Works' 2009 CANAAN television anime serves as a sequel to that specific scenario.
