DESCRIPTION
The third season of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken.
Rimuru has officially become a Demon Lord after defeating Clayman. Following Walpurgis, the Demon Lords' banquet, Rimuru's domain is expanded to include the entire Great Forest of Jura. Anticipating a flood of representatives from all races showing up to pay their respects, Rimuru decides to throw a festival to commemorate the opening of Tempest, using it as an opportunity to gain new citizens and present Demon Lord Rimuru to the world. Meanwhile, in the Holy Empire of Lubelius, home base of the monster-hating cult of Luminism, Holy Knight Captain Hinata receives a message from Rimuru. But the message is actually a fabricated declaration of war sent by some unknown party. Upon learning that Hinata is heading for Tempest, Rimuru makes a decision... Thus begins a new challenge for Rimuru, striving to distinguish friend from foe in his pursuit of the ideal nation where humans and monsters can prosper together.

67/100Slime S3's Identity Crisis: A Directionless Path to Nowhere.Continue on AniListSlime S3's Identity Crisis: A Directionless Path to Nowhere. `4.5~ min read`

__- ! Slime S3 spoilers ahead ! -__ ~~~ Slime was on an upward trajectory from the start- it was simply that typa show that gets way better the more you watch.. Especially in the second season with it's very noticeable improvement in overall quality. Stakes felt more real, storytelling felt more robust, and the core point of the series which is Rimuru's rise was being fulfilled as it was apparent that he was constantly striving to just be more oonga boonga overpowered. S3 shattered (in a bad way) that high standard that had migrated over from S2 as it not only forsakened its own core identity but was also mostly just a glorified still-frame-zoom-meeting-simulator. Genuinely felt like more than half the runtime was filled with these minimally animated scenes of characters endlessly yapping with zero relevance to the plot. I kept waiting for it to move forward, but instead, it kept dragging its feet, draining the goddamn life out of the momentum the series had worked so hard to build. Slime fumbled the bag even with the fight scenes, the main example of this is the Shizuku ‘conflict’- if you can even call it that.. It's laterally just a glorified misunderstanding.. that’s it- All that buildup from that rly cool first fight between Rimuru and Shizuku, to the (actually well written) political pressure from S2 - gone.. all thrown out the goddamn window. Both Rimuru and Hinata proceed with a mix of suspicion and caution, each assuming the other is preparing for an attack rather than seeking a diplomatic resolution. Rimuru, hoping to avoid unnecessary conflict, organizes defenses and prepares for a possible confrontation, but he doesn't do this tooootally unimportant thing called STATING YOUR INTENTIONS?? Meanwhile, Hinata, pressured by the Church and acting on questionable intelligence to say the very least, prepares to engage Rimuru’s forces without fully considering other explanations for his actions. When they finally confront each other, it’s almost as if both characters have suspended all rational thought. Despite an uncountable number of chances to clarify their misunderstandings and literally just TALK ffs, they repeatedly choose not to—resulting in an extended fight that feels extremely forced and based entirely on negative IQ communication skills. They both have ample evidence by this point that neither one is intent on destroying the other, but they continue to fight like mindless husks. They also act so out of character that it’s jarring, especially given how each of em is typically portrayed: Rimuru as a careful, diplomatic leader who avoids unnecessary violence, and Hinata as a calculated, strategic thinker who rarely fights without clear cause. Here, though, both of them abandon their usual rationality and depth, diving headlong into a prolonged, misinformed clash that could have been resolved with literally a single conversation. This setup makes the conflict feel contrived, the writer is actively forcing them into this shtstorm purely to create cheap tension. Their actions in this encounter lack the nuanced thoughtfulness they usually embody, making the confrontation feel extremely shallow and stiff. AAAND HERE WE GO with the festival arc ohhh God.. the excitement, entertainment, and stakes levels all look like a [crypto pump and dump on a graph](https://images.foolproofonline.info/images/cryptoscam.m3-800.jpg). The series loses sight of its core identity—Rimuru’s relentless rise to become more oonga boonga overpowered ,defend, and cement Tempest as a formidable kingdom. Throughout previous seasons, especially Season 2- the progression can mostly be described as extremely consistent buildup, creating a satisfying and REAL sense of progression. (Much like Shield Hero S3) His rise was driven not only by power gains but also by a real sense of purpose and stakes. Yet in Season 3, especially during the festival arc, (also much like Shield Hero S3) this momentum stalls as the story shifts focus to the festival itself, filled with superficial events that feel hollow compared to the high-stakes conflicts of earlier seasons. (Did I mention this is also much like Shield Hero S3) The arc’s minimalistic animation and extended meeting sequences only add to the sense that Rimuru’s character arc has been sidelined. Instead of progressing, Rimuru and Tempest feel stagnant, locked in scenes of repetitive dialogue and trivial interactions. The fights and confrontations that do happen are (Much like.. AHEM _shield hero s3_) lackluster, poor in the intensity and weight of past conflicts. Villains feel like afterthoughts, reduced to extremely predictable or inconsequential obstacles whose sole purpose is to make the festival happen. With so little at stake, the whole goddamn arc feels like filler; draining any lingering excitement from Rimuru’s journey and breaking the powerful momentum that Season 2 had established. This extended focus on a low-stakes event leaves the viewer yearning for the purpose and urgency that made Rimuru’s story so engaging. In concussion- or conclusion same thing, Slime S3 feels like a hollow, directionless mess that abandons everything that made Slime compelling in favor of what feels like pointless ‘filler’. The result is a slog that even giga fans of the series will be scratching their heads from it all. SPEED ROUND: ~!_~~tooootally not because I'm not capable of critiquing these:~~_!~ Soundtrack: fkn slaps. |||| OP1: Generic shounen anime OP clone num #52734 |||| OP2: Pretty fkn cool visuals but song lacks the BOP |||| ED 1: PowerPoint Presentation which is a shame cuz song is nice |||| ED2: AHHHHHHHHEFHJIUESHFOIUSHFG THIS ED IS PERFECT.. EVERYTHING AHHH THAT ARTSTYLE THE SONG I CANNTTTT. TLDR: Shizuku Conflict Arc: Conflict exists for the sake of conflict. Festival Arc: The abandonment or sacrifice of core identity in favor of aimless diversion.

90/100i explicitly suggest that you cannot and should never take this show in bite-size portions. It's Binger Paradise.Continue on AniListAnother great season for bingers, and another reason, i explicitly suggest that you cannot and should never take this show in bite-size portions.
This is a "Page Down", "Press Next" show, you have to keep going, skipping and stoppages are detrimental to the pleasure of this ordeal. What's interesting is that the first time i noticed this show spent entire episodes on meetings is when i saw some discourse about it on Twitter/X. I never noticed, it was just that engaging when you spend long periods immersed in its world.
You need to be a man of patience and endure the full episodes in longer sessions. I couldn't imagine foolishly waiting a week after each episode, it sounds like a nightmare. Perhaps if I was waiting around watching this weekly my opinon may have differed, You're aboslutely butchering the experience for yourself.8bit have made this a very comfortable binge, I effortlessly flew 20 whole episodes in a single session. I've always said whilst watching this show, it's one of the only shows with such depth and wisdom in discourse that i don't even notice the time go by.
The show does what it does best with it's terrific dialogue, powerful character direction and long engaging conversations filled with insight and thoughtfulness and tact. There are so many characters, yet it never drowns you and each seem important in the grand-scheme of things. I just think nothing else but to press the next button for the next episode. Episodes will just be an entire meeting and i'd never even think of being bored in the slightest. They explore many small details and viewpoints and get the mind going as you learn more about the world. It's truly a rare brain on-experience and you will suffer if you're not the type to think when watching these shows.
Pacing is just perfect for me, they flesh out most things they introduce quite thoroughly and give you time to take everything in. The only problem is that I'll have to wait months to years for the next season.
You look at the public response and my words so far seem utterly ludicrous. On the contrary I think expectations are very different. Every show needs seasons like this where it's alot calmer, more character and dialogue focused. It keeps the pace at a healthy level and tempers the world-building keeping it sane, realistic and immersive. People complain about cuts all the time, but when they actually slow it down and show you everything there are stilll complaints. it seems people dislike not having random fight scenes thrown in every 2 episodes. It's the same response i saw to Goblin Slayer 2 which was a great season aswell but if there isn't some kind of existencial giga-crisis every season apparently nothing happened according to many of these viewers. I simply don't understand their displeasure.
This series has clear phases and you really have to be engrossed into the experience to understand it. Initially he lacked power and influence so the tension lied within his lack of those things with the exhilarting uphill battle it took to gain those things and it was a joy to watch. Everyone was happy during that phase. We are in a different phase due the power, wealth and people he has accumulated and the tension lies more in dialogue, influence and liasion with most of it outside of the battlefield. It's evident that even when politics is done well most people simply don't have the mental fortitude to enjoy such things. This, of course, makes relief moments such as the Tournament Arc very important. With a decrease of these more people-pleasing fight scenes they do have to be handled better to continue to satisfy the fans which hold the battles in such high regard. They serve as a relief from the dialogue which others just don't appreciate.
There are of course many valid complaints.....
The animation was definitely not as strong as S2 but not bad in the least.
I will say, It's all too easy at this point, Rimuru's has gathered all the powerhouses and they're just so incredibly valuable to him in advice and influence allowing him to dodge every obstacle possible on his road to success. His biggest obstacle is practically his own complacency, whilst adequate for his current position, for many viewers who aren't able to hold their attention during extended sessions or made the mistake of watching a series like this weekly, it's evidently too frustrating for them.
It was unfortunately a painfully average tournament Arc(2 eps). It's a 7 fight tourney with far too many forfeits. If this Arc was longer i'm sure much of public perception would have increased. Im sure most people were just craving the fight scenes which are always a blessing in this show.
They did alright in the general sound of the show, however the soundtrack in general could have been stronger.
My biggest problem is the same after every-season perhaps even more so after this one, which is the.... "It's over already?" and "Where's the rest of it?" problem. I just want more and i want it now. Hopefully this movie and the next season come quick, they've honestly left us TENSURA fans hungrier than we ever been.

If you're in deep into the world of this series, obviously this is unskippable unmissable greatness which i will eventually rewatch.
Make sure you have alot of free time before you attempt to do this. You must watch handfuls at a time or you risk ruining your own immersion and souring the taste of the series.Im off to finally watch tensura nikki and the other non-movie adaptations i have yet to watch to satiate my apetite.
If you haven't started it yet it's 72 episodes of some the greatest isekai has to offer, take a few days out and just enjoy the binge.
Hope this helps.
